Hiking trail of Beskid Wyspowy.

The destination of our hike — Luboń Wielki (1022 meters above sea level) — one of the most picturesque peaks in the Beskid Wyspowy offers tourists not only amazing views but also slightly more demanding terrain, especially on the yellow trail leading through Borkowski’s Path. This trail is an excellent option for those who are looking for a bit more challenge while hiking in this region.

We start in Rabka-Zdroj, a famous health resort at the foot of the Gorce Mountains and the Beskid Wyspowy. We parked in front of the Lewiatan store and hit the road. Initially, the trail leads through meadows and forests, gradually gaining altitude. We go without rushing, at our own pace. Each step allows us to break away from the everyday hustle and bustle and rediscover harmony with nature. After a few kilometers, we reach the border of the nature reserve, and in a moment we reach a place that promises one of the most interesting experiences of this route  — Borkowski’s Path.

The trail here leads through a boulder field, which requires additional attention and caution from tourists. Named after Jan Borkowski, one of the first promoters of tourism in the area, this path is one of the most demanding in this part of the Beskids. Narrow passages, steep approaches, and the need to climb through a field of loose rocks next to a vertical cliff make Borkowski’s Path demanding and not for everyone. However, for those who decide to take this route, it is an amazing opportunity to experience wild, unspoiled nature.

While climbing, you can admire numerous rock formations that create a unique landscape. It is worth paying attention to the characteristic sandstone rocks, remnants of ancient geological processes. The vegetation surrounding Borkowski’s Path resembles a mountain ecosystem — numerous moss species, ferns, and shrubs add charm to this harsh landscape.

After crossing the Borkowski’s Path, the trail continues along a less demanding path to the peak of Luboń Wielki. At the top we can enjoy views of the Beskid Wyspowy, the Gorce Mountains, and, in good weather, also the Tatra Mountains.

We planned to return from the Lubon Wielki peak along the blue trail, which leads through a less demanding but equally picturesque area. Most of this trail runs through the forest, offering moments of respite after the earlier, intense climbing. We finish the hike near the starting point, and a moment later we are on our way back home.
