Foundry workshop of the sculptor Jozef Polewka. It felt as if the time has stopped – within the silence you could only hear the brief commands made by Jozef towards his sons.
Every step and gesture were at the right time and the right place. Everything to keep the correct temperature of the liquid metal and avoid wasting days, or sometimes weeks, of preparation. Tension and focus were extremely tangible. There, a lot depended on the person and their many years of experience. The civilisation with its modern technology had been left outside, and I was participating in a primal, magical ritual.
